WEEE (also known as directive 2002/96/CE) stands for Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment. This European Union directive took effect in 2003 and mandates the treatment, recovery and recycling of electronic equipment with the goal of encouraging the design of all electronic products with recycling and recovery in mind. All manufacturers are required to take responsibility for what happens to their products once they reach the end of their life cycles with a focus on reducing the amount that reaches a landfill.
Per article 11 of the WEEE directive, all component material must meet recycling and reuse rates of 65% as well as recovery rates of 75% for any electrical and electronic equipment placed on the market.
All ZPE Systems products fully comply with WEEE standards and have been independently tested and certified to exceed all minimums outlined within directive 2002.96/CE.
